Hinkle taking on head job in Verndale
Jordan Hinkle has taken the helm of the Verndale Pirates this season with all but one of his starters on the roster.
Hinkle and his coaches are introducing a new system to the Pirates that will depend on consistency and discipline. The club was kicked around last year winning just two of 26 games and going winless in the Park Region Conference.
Seven of Verndale's varsity cagers are seniors including sharpshooting guard Zack Meidinger who averaged 20 points a game. The 6-0 standout also four rebounds and two steals a game.
Other returning lettermen include 6-1 senior forward Kyle Booth (six points, six rebounds), 5-10 guard Dallas Ehrmantraut (five points, four assists), 5-11 senior guard Dustin Motschenbacher (three points, three rebounds, two steals), 6-1 senior forward Jerdan Stinar (five points, five rebounds), 5-9 senior guard Isaac Schmitz, 6-3 senior center Ryan Gronlund, 6-1 junior forward Travis Lollar and 6-3 junior center Austin Denny.
Hinkle will also be able to call on 5-9 senior guard Cody Yungbauer, 6-0 junior guard Christian Siedschlaw and 5-10 sophomore guard Josh Gilb.
Hinkle is pegging Sebeka and Bertha-Hewitt to battle it out for the Park Region Conference title and also gives them a shot at section honors. Nevis and Upsala are also regarded as section contenders.
