Hildegard Primus

The Mass of Christian Burial for Hildegard Primus, of Perham and formerly of Bluffton, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2014, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton, with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 6:00 and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The visitation will resume at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. With family at her side, Hildegard passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the 7th Heaven Assisted Living Home in Perham, MN. She was 88 years old.

Hildegard was born on February 17, 1926 to August and Mary (Austing) Wessel in Sauk Centre, MN. Hildegard was united in marriage with Alphonse Primus on May 14, 1946, at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Together they raised their family on their farm near Bluffton. She was a devoted mother and wife who helped Al with the farm chores, and enjoyed keeping house, tending flower & vegetable gardens and canning foods for her family. She enjoyed participating in various church activities, including Christian Mothers, Catholic United Financial Council, St. Marys Mission Group, Fall Bazaar work and church dinners. Other joys in her life were activities with the Jolly Homemakers/New Traditions Club, sewing quilts, traveling with Al to various parts of the world, and just taking leisurely Sunday afternoon drives.

Hilde was preceded in death by her husband Alphonse on October 16, 2013; parents August and Mary; brothers Cyril and Norbert Wessel; and sisters Jeannette Derichs, Valeria Wolter, Helen Jenc and Bertha Theisen.

She is survived by her son Harvey of Bluffton; daughter Mary Lou Waldorf of South Range, WI; grandchildren Joe Waldorf and Dan (Virginia) Waldorf; great-grandchildren Dylan Waldorf and Hannah Kile; brothers Greg Wessel of Swanville, Delbert Wessel and Robert Wessel both of Sauk Centre; along with her "extra kids" Joe, Eileen, Darlene, Joann, and other nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pegge Ament, Margaret VanErp, Mary Roggenkamp, Agnes Kaufman, Donna Goeller and Marge Harrison. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Waldorf, Daniel Waldorf, Scott Jahnig, Ian Jahnig, Katie Jahnig, Rocky Benoit, Bailey Benoit and Lindsey Benoit.

Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Bluffton.
