Herbert "Herb" Joseph Lehmkuhl, 82, passed away at his home in Wadena on Sept. 29, 2009.
Herb was born Aug. 12, 1927, to Paul and Clara (Rust) Lehmkuhl in Cumberland, Wis. He was united in marriage with Mary L. Richter on November 15, 1950, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena. He began serving his country in the Army in 1950. He retired from the Wadena school systems. His hobbies and interests included gardening and fishing, and he loved being with his grandchildren and animals.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena, with the Rev. Donald Wagner, presiding. Pallbearers were Steve Lehmkuhl, Terry Lehmkuhl, Jeff Lehmkuhl, Dan Lehmkuhl, Gerard Lehmkuhl, Brent Lehmkuhl, and Adam Lehmkuhl. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Wadena.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena (www.johnsonmemorialhome.com).
Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons, Steve of Wadena, Terry (Deb) of Princeton, Jeff (Janet) of Wadena, Dan (Maryln) of Carlos, Gerard of Wadena, and Brent (Amy) of Isanti; daughters, Sue (Joe) Parker of Otsego, Mary Miller of Atlanta, Ga., Kathy (Dave) Breuer of Montrose, Nancy (Rob) Uselman of Ponte Vedra, Fla., Jackie Lehmkuhl of St. Cloud, and Monica Lehmkuhl Snyder of Avon; 31 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters Gertrude "Gertie" Rousu of Maple Grove, Frieda Beckman of Wadena, and Elaine Rentz of Staples.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Clara; three brothers; three sisters; and grandsons Jeremiah and Michael.
