The funeral service for Maxine Pederson of Wadena, and formerly of Verndale, was set to be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena, with Pastor Nathan Loer presiding. Maxine passed away on Sept. 2, 2012, at the age of 88 years, at Inga's Place in rural Wadena.
Helen "Maxine" Pederson was born to Thomas John and Harriet De´Etta (Johnson) Thompson in Glyndon, Clay County, Minn. She was united in marriage with Lawrence Fred Pederson on Dec. 7, 1947, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Verndale. They made their home in the Verndale area, where Maxine was a farm wife and worked as a clerk at the Wadena County ASCS office.
Maxine was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Women, the Stephen Ministry, and found time be a Tri-County Hospital Pink Lady and Lifeline volunteer.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence on Aug. 20, 1990; her parents, Thomas and Harriett; brother, George Thompson; and sisters, Kay Dummert and Phyllis Grewe. Her survivors include sons, Dale Robert (Melinda) Pederson of Edina and Thomas "Red" (Jane) John Pederson of Hopkins; daughters, Denise Kay Pederson of Woodbury and Karen Lee Pederson of St. Louis Park; five grandchildren; and sister, Darlene (Thompson) Leonard of Verndale.
Honorary pallbearers were Graham Messenger, Jenny Messenger, Megan Pederson, Melissa Pederson, Tess Pederson and Michael Pederson. Serving as pallbearers were Duane Leonard, John Nelson, Brian Roth, Jay Vernonen, Marcus Edin, and Ted Pilgrim.
Burial was in Montrose Cemetery in Thomastown Township in rural Staples.
Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home, a Schuller Family Funeral Home, in Wadena.
