Helen Ione Peterson Grabow, 77, of Henning, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
She was born March 20, 1930, in South Shore, S.D., the daughter of Eddie and Esther (Algren) Peterson. She lived with her family in Ada, Minn., Watertown, S.D., Milbank, S.D., Sioux Falls, S.D., and finally in Henning. She was married to Arlo Grabow on May 17, 1952. She worked as a telephone operator for three years and then as a sales clerk at Pamida in Wadena, Truax Grocery in Deer Creek, and Deckert's Jack and Jill grocery store in Henning. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Henning, the Good Shepherd WELCA and Circle 4 evening circle. She was a member of the Henning Stitchers quilting group. She was a volunteer at the Henning Nursing Home and she served on the board of School District 545 Dollars for Scholars. She especially enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's ballgames and other sporting events. She loved hummingbirds and pansies.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 10, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Henning with the Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. Casketbearers were her grandchildren: Jared Grabow, Mark Grabow, Karl Grabow, Jeff Grabow, Jason Grabow, Jacob Grabow and Matthew Bergquist. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren: Cole Grabow, Brooke Grabow, Dalton Grabow, Lucas Grabow, Jordan Grabow, Logan Miller, Gavin Grabow and Isaac Grabow. Survivors include her children, Gregory (Renee) Grabow, Ottertail; Timothy (Cynthia) Grabow, Brandon; Jeffrey (Wendy) Grabow, Battle Lake; and Pamela (Randy) Bergquist, Orange Park, Fla.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Duane (Marlene) Peterson, Henning; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a great-granddaughter, Cambree; a brother, LuVerne; sisters, Gladys and Betty; a nephew, Michael Peterson; and a niece, Julie Krause.
