The Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Clara Gorghuber of Wadena will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014, at St. Anns Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Friends may call at St. Anns Parish Center on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 p.m., with Rosary at 5:00 and Prayers at 6:00 p.m.. Visitation will resume at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Surrounded by her family, Helen passed away on March 7, 2014 at her home in Wadena, under the gentle care of Legacy Hospice.

Helen was born to Henry Nicholas and Clara Elizabeth (Schmiesing) Ament on January 13, 1928, in Bluffton, MN. She attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Bluffton through the eighth grade. While working at the Banquet Bakery in Wadena she met her future husband. Helen was united in marriage with Robert "Bob" Nicholas Gorghuber on August 20, 1951, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton. As a dedicated wife mother and homemaker, Helen filled her days caring for her family. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting and reading. Helen also loved playing cards and games with her grandchildren, and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She was an amazing seamstress and quilter, was a member of Christian Mothers, was a past president of the VFW Auxiliary, was involved in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Clara; granddaughter Leslie Buettner; brothers Norbert, Ray, Ed, and infant Bernard; sister Amelia Schmitz.

She is survived by her husband Bob; sons Dave (Darla) of Fergus Falls, James (Barbara) of Las Cruces NM, and Joe (Christine) of St.Cloud; daughters Janice (Robert) Regnell of Prior Lake, Leanne (Ray) Buettner of Wadena, and Nancy (John) Sunstrom of Sauk Rapids; 19 grandchildren & 15 great-grandchildren; brothers Leo (Delores), Andy (Deanne), George (Penny), and Tom (Peggy); sisters Alice Keppers, Theresa (Leo) Goeden, and Mary (Don) Kuntz; and sister-in-law Vione Ament.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Meyers, Joe Meyers, Bruce Meyers, Jeff Paulson, Robert Gorghuber, Daniel Gorghuber, Adam Buettner and Luke Gorghuber.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Wadena.
