Helen was born Dec. 22, 1917, in Burke, S.D., the daughter of Walter and Sarah (Helmberger) Klein, Sr. She was the second of seven children. She was baptized and raised in the Catholic faith and lived her life with extreme faith in the Lord. As a small child, she moved to Minnesota with the rest of her family. She attended school and graduated from Perham High School. On Oct. 9, 1940, Helen was united in marriage to Wayne Adams, her lifelong partner. They farmed and lived near Marion Lake. They, together, had seven children, all raised on the farm.

Helen's greatest joys were her family and faith, followed closely by her flowers. Many of her family and friends enjoyed the fruits of her labor. She was an avid bird-watcher with many feeders in her yard. Her home was an open invitation -- a cup of coffee and a smile to anyone who came to her door. She loved fishing and was an active guardian of the lake. She was very active in the church and taught religious classes at Sacred Heart in Dent for many years.

After the death of her husband, Wayne, in 1972, she continued operating the farm. She was employed as a cook at the Lantern's Supper Club and then the Richville Senior Citizen Center until she retired.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dent, with the Rev. Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, is in charge of the arrangements. (218) 346-5175. Online tributes may be posted on www.schoenebergerfuneralhome.com.

Survivors include her seven children, Jan (Noel) Schroeder, Sioux Falls, S.D., David (Dorothy) Adams, Richville, Joan (Randy) Hutmacher, Ottertail, Sue (Norm) Cessna, Lander, Wyo., Steve (Marlys) Adams, Fergus Falls, Diane (Doug Schroeder) Krumwiede, Ottertail, and Lois Adams, Mora, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom were her precious jewels. She was an avid fan and cheerleader for their events. Also surviving Helen are two sisters, Elizabeth Adams, Richville, and Bernice Rosental, New York Mills; and in-laws Pat Adams, Donna Hubberman and Harry Harrison.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; brothers, Walt Klein Jr., Albert, and Pete; one sister, Rosemary Harrison; granddaughter, Mary Adams; and son-in-law, David Krumwiede.
