Health dept forgives fine to Sebeka
The Minnesota Department of Health recently forgave Sebeka a $1,400 fine after city officials posted signs and made sure all indoor smoking was eliminated.
Investigators found an ash tray and a cigarette butt in the police chief's office.
"Our typical protocol would not call for issuing a monetary penalty for the first complaint," DOH Indoor Air Enforcement Coordinator John Olson said.
It has been illegal to smoke in a public building or business place in Minnesota since Oct. 1, 2007.
