Grant could help goal of being bike-friendly
Erica Keppers presented the possibility of a $5,000 grant from the State Health Improvement Program (SHIP) to the Wadena city council on Tuesday, Dec. 14. The grant is related to the Complete Streets program which promotes pedestrians and bicycles. Keppers said that signage is one of the acceptable uses of the grant, and that it could complement the bike trail grant received in the fall.
Public Works director Ron Bucholz said there is currently not a good way to get a bike across U.S. Highway 10.
The deadline for the grant is Jan. 14, with funds to be spent by June 30.
Mayor Wayne Wolden said the council could go address the grant during the next meaning on Jan. 11.
