Gladys Clara (Frank) Foss, 91, of Henning, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Henning with her family at her side.
She was born in Stowe Prairie Township, Hewitt, on July 29, 1918, the daughter of John and Lillie (Beneke) Frank. As a young woman she worked for C&P Telephone/Bell Telephone and continued to work in several locations until her retirement in 1979. In retirement, she served her Lord through many volunteer hours at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in many activities, especially Altar Guild, Bible study, and New Horizons senior group and at Midlands Community Hospital. She and her husband, Kerm, were active in AAL. She enjoyed listening to classical music, reading and keeping up on current events.
On Feb. 27, 1960, she was married to Kermith O. Foss (a military career man) at Trinity Lutheran church in Hewitt. Their first home was at McCord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Wash., then moved to Arlington, Va. After they both retired in 1979, they moved to Omaha, Neb. Kerm passed away in February 2003. In 2004, she moved to Willow Creek apartments in Henning to be near family. In May 2009, she moved to Golden Living Center.
Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 15 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Henning with the Rev. Randy Maland officiating. Casketbearers were Kris Kyar, Kevin Kyar, Dave DeMets, Don VanSickle, Curt McGowan and Robert Olson. Interment is in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Hewitt. The Belmont Funeral Home in Henning was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include seven nieces and nephews; two great-nephews; many great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Kerm; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mabel and William VanSickle, and Hazel and Albert Kyar; sister, Leora Frank (age 2); and brothers, Leonard C. Frank and Rollyn (Bud) Frank.
