George's life-long dream was of being a cowboy. So, in 1959 he and Janice moved their young family West to fulfill that dream. They were soon joined by George's brother, Lee Roggenkamp and his family to live in Camas WA where they provided for their growing families running a contracting business together that serviced the greater Vancouver WA area. George was active in the Clark County Sheriff's Posse and competed at Sheriff's Posse gatherings throughout the State of Washington. In 1978, George and Janice moved to Weiser and were long-time residents until moving to southern California and then finally settling in Ontario OR.

George's energy was great and his childlike enthusiasm constant. He enjoyed music and was an enthusiastic concertina and harmonica player. After family dinners George and Lee would play lively tunes to the delight of all the young children. George loved a good story and loved to tell one...especially the one about the bear that climbed the cherry tree. He also enjoyed gardening which served as a comforting connection to his cherished mother and avid gardener, Veronica Roggenkamp.

George was a true horseman who's greatest joy was sharing his love of horses with family and friends participating in competitive horse gaming and racing, chariot racing, fishing and pack trips in the mountains of Central and Eastern WA and OR and Western Idaho. George will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Janice and six children. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as, two brothers. George is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Veronica, six brothers and three sisters.

A celebration of life is being planned for this Summer.
