Minnesota students have a number of enrollment option programs that empower them to choose where they attend school. Parents and students have a chance to identify the public school that best fits the student's educational needs and interests. Since no single school or educational approach is best suited to all learners, every family benefits from exploring the educational options available to them.

Freshwater Area Learning Center offers educational services under the High School Options legislation. High School Options identify students who benefit from an alternative to the regular school or students who have withdrawn from school. The ALC's provide opportunities for students to achieve academic success and attain a high school diploma. Programs are available for full time and part-time students, days or evenings.

Freshwater ALC is designed to meet the needs of individual students under the High School Options Criteria. The purpose of the ALC is to provide a full range of year round services that will lead to a high school diploma.

Classes will begin at all ALC sites on Tuesday, Sept. 7. To find out more information about the High School or Middle Level ALC, call the following individuals:

Seniors who should have graduated in May 2010, contact Freshwater about how you can complete the required coursework in the least amount of time. You may not need to attend an entire semester to complete your requirements.

In addition, elementary schools offer after school Targeted Services programs to eligible students. These programs help students with academic success in fun and creative ways. Please contact your local school about their Targeted Services program for students grades Kindergarten through grade 8.

After School Elementary Targeted Services sites are located at Menahga, Sebeka, Wadena, Henning, Verndale, Staples, Motley, Pillager, Bertha Hewitt, Browerville, Clarissa, and Long Prairie.

Your district may also offer an after-school, credit recovery program. Please contact your local school to see if they offer a credit recovery program for students grades 10-12.
