Francis Mathew Perkins
Perkins, Francis Mathew, 90, died as a resident of Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home, Land O Lakes, Fla. on Aug. 20, 2012. He was the oldest son of Eleanor McBride and Willard Perkins, former residents of Wadena.
Survivors include Margaret Wetzstein Perkins (Wife), of Tampa, Leo (Deborah) of Montana, Rosemary (Don) of Ashby, Fla., Teresa (Jim)Jarrels of Georgia, Moria Giley of Florida; as well as 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Francis was born in Wadena, Minn. Nov. 4, 1921, and was the oldest of ten children. He was a proud veteran of WWII (Persian Gulf Command), serving in transportation and supply on the Burma Road. He was also an early entrepreneur of owner-operator trucking services, as well as a life-long learner, educator and mentor to many.
