Four Wadena boxers chalk up ring victories
Wadena's Tristian Powers, Nikola Schulz, Albert Boldt and T.J. Steward racked up decisions Saturday on a 10-bout card at the National Guard Armory in Wadena.
Powers, appearing in his first match, notched a victory over White Earth's Sam Lavoy Burnette in their 92-pound bout.
Schulz, a foreign exchange student from Germany currently attending Bertha-Hewitt High School, made her ring debut a success by decisioning 115-pound foe Syndey Johnson of White Earth.
Boldt was the winner of a close decision in his 125-pound fight with White Bear Lake's Damon Lachman.
Steward, who was boxing in the main event on a Wadena card for the second time this season, went three rounds with Fargo's Amar Kovacevic in a 148-pound bout before claiming a decision.
Wadena's Emily Boldt, John Johnson and Micah Cole suffered defeat. Boldt lost to Detroit Lakes' Samantha Lucero at 114 pounds. Johnson lost to Brainerd 142-pounder Blake Herron. Cole lost to St. Cloud's Joe James at 170.
In the only three fights not involving Wadena boxers, Chace Metelak of Detroit Lakes topped 132-pound foe Owen Randklev of Fargo, Crosby's Luke Genz stopped Fergus Falls' Seth Carpenter in the second round of their 165-pound fight and Fargo's Joey Suda defeated Dustin Zablocki of St. Cloud in the second round of their 172-pound bout.
The Wadena Boxing Club will host a 7:30 p.m. card Feb. 9.
