Four of six Wadena boxers won their fights Saturday night as Bob Tubandt's Golden Glovers opened their 2010-11 season at the National Guard Armory.

Johnson stopped St. Cloud's Jordan Lemieur in a 140-pound fight and Boldt won by RSC over Leech Lake's Chazzy Roper at 106.

Wadena's DeWayne Steward went up against Detroit Lakes' Shane Kern in the main event. Steward, who has been boxing under the Wadena banner for eight years and competed in the Upper Midwest last year, scored a four-round decision over his 165-pound rival.

Fernanado Zavala of Willmar won by decision over Matt Umland on Wadena in a 72-pound fight.

Brainerd's Nate Rubin decisioned Fergus Falls' Sergio Garcia at 135. Fergus Falls' Jesse Wannamacher was able to decision St. Cloud John Geyer at 160.

Wadena heavyweights Elliot Sandberg and Justin Isaacson were also slated to fight but their opponents, Fergus Falls' Nick Soliah and Leech Lake's Tony Bushy, did not appear for the card.

Wadena's next boxing card will be held Saturday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the National Guard Armory.
