Wadena-Deer Creek students in Jay Patterson's seventh-grade English class recently learned about adverbs, but with a clever visual - a red-and-white, polka-dotted flag. Patterson used the colorful flag to illustrate that adverbs "fly flags." He said visual cues help students remember important abstract concepts.
