FCCLA members Adrianna Buettner (left) and Yalonda Nelson received gold at the regional FCCLA competition with a score of 100 out of 100. This is their second year receiving a perfect score. Their STAR event was on teen pregnancy. Nelson is wearing a fake pregnancy belly, made to replicate the weight and look of being pregnant, as well as illustrate the issue of teen pregnancy.

Twenty-one members of Wadena-Deer Creek Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competed - and advanced - at the Region FCCLA competition Feb. 25 in Barnesville.

Everyone did very well and they all are going to state. They each had a STAR event, which is similar to a research paper and a display board, posters, manual, or PowerPoint. Some STAR events can be five minutes of speech while others can be 30 minutes. Participants have a set time on the judge's sheet.
