Wadena County Farm Bureau will hold its Annual Spring Banquet Thursday, April 12 at 6 p.m. at the Ted & Gen's Supper Club in Aldrich. This year the entertainment will be provided by Cowboy Poet Diane Tribitt.
Tribitt is a remarkably gifted woman with roots that run deep in the soil of her Minnesota ranch. She brings that rich heritage, a wealth of knowledge, and a profound spirituality that comes from ranching on a daily basis, to her poetry and stories. More often than not her award winning poetry and stories are true, either experienced by Tribitt herself or someone close to her. Tribitt's poetry will transport the listener on an engaging journey through the life of a working cowboy that will have you laughing one moment, riveted the next, and at some point wiping a tear away. An extraordinary writer and story teller, this soft spoken cowgirl burst onto the Cowboy Poetry scene and soared quickly to the top. Considered one of the premier ladies doing Cowboy Poetry today, it is quite obvious that it's not just a story she is relating ... it is the life she lives.
Tribitt's book "Trail Mix" was named Cowboy Poetry Book of the Year by the Western Music Association. Tribitt was also named Cowboy Poet of the Year -- Female by the Academy of Western Artists, Poet Laureate by CowboyPoetry.com and Woman of the Year (in Ranching and Construction) by the National Association of Professional Executive Women. Diane's CD "Ranchin' Rhymes" has been a Top 5 nominee in the Western Music Association for the past three years.
Tickets are $15 per person or 2 for $25. Farm Bureau will also be holding a silent auction beginning at 6 p.m. to raise money for promotion and education activities. Banquet tickets are available from Wadena County Farm Bureau board members, the county Farm Bureau office or at the door. Farm Bureau members and non-members are welcome.
