Evelyn Gonderman, 96, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls.

She was born February 26, 1917, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Ramsey) Tobin.

On February 26, 1938, she married Alvin Erickson in Twin Valley. They farmed in the area. Later they operated a shoe repair business in Wadena.

On September 11, 1971, she married Carl Gonderman in Moorhead. They moved to Watertown SD where they operated “Carl’s Shoe Repair”. They moved to Wadena where they continued to operate the business for many years.

She was a member of the Wadena VFW, and was a Foster Grandparent for 30 years.

Evelyn enjoyed gardening, dancing, listening to music, crafting, and sewing. She will be remembered for her telling of stories and her great sense of humor. She enjoyed her family and was a spiritual person.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Alvin Erickson and Carl Gonderman; her daughter, Arleen (Donald) Fenske; and two sons, Alvin “Tubby” Erickson and Thomas Erickson.

Survivors include three daughters: Marcy (George) Wendling of Leonard ND, Mary (Jerry) Johnson of Fergus Falls, and Jackie (Dwight) Nelson of Monroe WA; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Service: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at the Minnesota Veterans Home Chapel in Fergus Falls

Interment: Immanuel Cemetery in Twin Valley, Minnesota
