The Mass of Christian Burial for Ernest Bushinger of Wadena, Minn. was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Don Wagner as celebrant. Visitation was at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
He passed away peacefully at Tri County Hospital on June 27 at the age of 78 after a long battle with leukemia, his family by his side. He was born on September 17, 1934 to Edward and Anne Bushinger in Bluegrass, Minn. He attended country school in his earlier years and then went on to high school in Wadena. He was married to Delores Ann Schiller on March 14, 1957 at St. Hubert's Church in Bluegrass. They were blessed with seven children throughout this marriage.
Ernest worked as a truck driver all of his life and spent the last 41 years of his working years employed at Russ Davis Wholesale where he retired in 2000. After retirement, Ernest and Delores took numerous road trips including Missouri, Florida, Arizona, Tennessee, and a number of other places. Whether driving truck, taking road trips with his wife, or just being at home, country music was his passion. He was also a very dedicated Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. He had a soft spot and a deep love for animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law James Rigsby; and his step-granddaughter, Sara Ludovissie.
He is survived by his loving wife Delores of 56 years; sons Bart (Janet) of Champlin, Brad (Angie) and Chris (Julie) both of Wadena; daughters Kathy (Jim) Sartell of Rosemount, Jenny, Brenda (Nate) Bakken and Kim (Bob) Ludovissie all of Wadena; grandchildren, Matt, Briana, Kayla, Robbie, Josh, Jenna, Jacob, Jesse, Nicholas, Emma, Charlie and great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Vincent, and Noah.; brothers, Al of Brooklyn Park and Ed of Ray, MN; sisters, Leona Schiller of Wadena and Anne Rigsby of Avon, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Ernie's grandsons and the honorary pallbearers are the past and present employees of Russ Davis Wholesale. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Wadena.
