End of the year is here
It is hard to believe, but we have wrapped up another school year at Wadena-Deer Creek High School. We graduated an incredible group of 106 seniors on May 29 and the rest of the students are already into their second week of summer vacation. Enjoy it kids, before you know it Sept. 8 will be here and you will be back in school. Take some time this summer to relax and have fun, but be safe in what you do.
I would also like to take a minute to thank a number of people for making my first year at WDCHS a truly memorable one. First and foremost, I would like to thank the students. We have a fantastic group of young adults who make our school a great place to be. Your enthusiasm and great attitudes are the number one reason I loved coming to work every day this year. I would also like to thank and recognize the staff of WDCHS. We have incredible teachers, cooks, custodians, administrative assistants, district office employees, and bus drivers working in our district. Add to this a great assistant principal and counselor and you have in place a staff which is committed to the success of the students in our school. Thank you for everything you do.
The families and community members also deserve a big thank you. Our kids would not have the success they have without you. Your support has been greatly appreciated throughout the school year. Whether it is a full crowd at a boys' basketball game or one at a band/choir concert, your dedication to supporting our students does not go unrecognized. The kids and I truly appreciate when you are there. The support our communities show to the school and students is what makes this such a great place to live, work, and attend school. Thank you on behalf of the school and students.
On a final note, I would challenge all parents to make some time for your kids this summer. With our busy schedules and the kids in school, often times we do not get to spend enough time as a family. I know this is the case because it has happened to me with my wife and kids. Please find some days this summer where you and your kids can do something together. A strong connection at home leads to more success in school. The kids might pretend it is not cool to do something with mom or dad, but in reality they do appreciate it. Please make time for your kids and have a great summer!
