Ella Kathleen (Satter) Hanson, 89, of Wadena, formerly of Pelican Rapids, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital, Wadena.

She was born April 23, 1920, in Pelican Rapids, the daughter of Ole and Regina (Myre) Satter. She attended country school near Pelican Rapids. On Aug. 9, 1944, she married Jasper Hanson in Pelican Rapids. She enjoyed being a homemaker while raising her children. For several years she was employed by West Central Turkey Plant. Jasper preceded her in death on July 5, 1998. After Jasper died, she moved to Wadena to be near her daughter.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in ladies aid and the VFW Auxiliary in Pelican Rapids. She enjoyed embroidery and was a devoted Minnesota Twins fan.

The service was held Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids with the Rev. Laurie Skow-Anderson and intern pastor Al Brooks officiating. Active pallbearers were Nicholas Hanson, Scott Jorgensen, Chad Severts, Randy Denny, Jamie Larson and Doug Modine. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial was in Pelican Valley Cemetery, Pelican Rapids. The Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids (www.larsonfuneralpelicanrapids.com) was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her son, Jerry (Kay) Hanson, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; daughter, Diane (Alan) Jorgensen, Wadena; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper; sisters, Helen Jedlicka, Evelyn Jeske, Myrtle Johnson and Marion Hanson; and brothers, Milford Satter, Orville Satter, Arnold Satter and Victor Satter.
