Eleanora L. Esteb

Eleanora L. Esteb, 96, of Bertha, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at the Lakewood Health Systems Care Center in Staples after being cared for in the Memory Care Unit for the last four years.

She was born on April 16, 1912, at Woodside Township, Otter Tail County to William and Lottie (Franklin) Miller. She grew up in the Woodside area and graduated from the Bertha High School and Wadena Teachers Training. She taught several years in country schools in the Wrightstown and Woodside area. She married Harold Esteb on April 20, 1934.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of God. She had great faith and was a true prayer warrior. Even in her last days, she always put others ahead of herself. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and entertaining friends and family.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 13, at the New Life Church of God with the Rev. Mark Brown presiding. Honorary pallbearers were all of her former students from the country schools at Wrightstown and Woodside Township. Pallbearers were Maureen Phillips, Mary Prescott, Craig Voge, Dianne Koch, Kirk Voge, Brad Voge and Jim Ecker. Interment was in the Woodside Cemetery at Wrightstown. Domian-Anderson Funeral Home (www.domian-anderson.com) was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her children, Marlyn (Betty) Esteb of Deerwood and Marilyn (Wayne) Voge of Bertha; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren and 13 step-great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Zimmerman of Bertha; and sister-in-law, Louise Miller of Mahtomedi, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 1993; parents, William and Lottie Miller; and brothers, Gerald and Russell Miller.
