Early lead helps OTC beat WDC

The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead Tuesday and went on to post a 4-2 win over Kyle Dykhoff's Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines.

"If we can tighten things up on defense we will be fine," Dykhoff said.

WDC hurler Derrick Rude went the distance on the hill and allowed the Bulldogs just three hits. Rude did not allow an earned run while walking three and fanning eight.

Brett Collins went all the way for the Bulldogs to gain credit for the mound win. The OTC right-hander walked two and struck out six. After the Wolverines pulled within one in the bottom of the third, Collins threw four straight goose eggs.

Rude had two hits and one RBI in the loss. Jake Rude, Kenny Sakry and Matt Laughlin all collected solo hits.
