Eagles overcome Wolverines 10-4

Tucker Skoblik came up with the mound victory Friday as the New York Mills Eagles tagged Wadena-Deer Creek with a 10-4 loss.

Ricky Price slammed a two-run homer the Wolverines while Wyatt Webber and Zach Schertler both had two hits. Dylan Phillips doubled for the Wolverines.

Zach Schertler rapped a pair of singles for Wadena-Deer Creek.

Price was hung with the mound loss.

The Wolverines dropped to 2-3 while the Eagles improved to 6-0.

WDC 0-6, Detroit Lakes 8-2

The Wolverines rallied for an 8-0 loss in Game 1 to split their Mid-State Conference twinbill with the Lakers Tuesday in Wadena.

Connor Johnson fired a four-hitter and fanned 12 WDC batters to give the Lakers the first game.

“We ran into a solid pitcher in Game 1,” WDC head coach Kyle Dykhoff said.

Steve Fuh’s club did not pull away until the top of the seventh when they scored six times.

Sam Voz went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs. Troy Lygnaas drove in a pair of runs. Rian Creek went 2-for-3 in the leadoff position and scored twice.

Singling for the Wolverines were Wyatt Weber, Zach Schertler, Isaac Laughlin and Jake Dykhoff.

Joe Wallgren gave the Wolverines five innings of relief and suffered the mound loss.

Dykhoff scattered nine DL hits and struck out nine batters without issuing a walk as WDC claimed the nightcap 6-2.

The Wolverines went 4-for-4 in bunt attempts and saw seven players contributing hits. Michael Behl went 2-for-3, scored once and drove in one run. Tanner Horn was credited with two RBIs.

Sam Beck, Boyd Bradbury and Cooper Heimark all had two hit in the loss. Beck drove in both DL runs.
