Eagle Bend boy dies after horse steps on him
A 9-month-old boy from Eagle Bend died Sept. 8 after a horse stepped on him.
Around 7:30 p.m., the Todd County Sheriff's Office received a report that an infant had been stepped on by a horse at the Dan Miller residence on 165th Avenue in Eagle Bend. Upon the arrival of Todd County deputies, the infant was unresponsive. Resuscitation efforts were conducted on the male victim, Chrissie D. Miller, but were unsuccessful.
The infant had been in a child seat that was placed in a hand-pulled cart near the entrance to the barn while family members were doing chores nearby. The horse had been tied up inside the barn. The length of the rope was long enough that the rear portion of the horse was close to the infant and the child was stepped on.
Eagle Bend Fire and Rescue, and Bertha Ambulance, and Todd County Chaplain assisted at the scene.
