Dorothy Breid

The funeral service for our beloved Dorothy Breid of Wadena was held at 11 AM on September 3, 2013 at the First Congregational U.C.C. in Wadena, with Jim Stoneman and Allan Lynk presiding. Dorothy passed away at the age of 90 on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.

Dorothy Mary (Brotze) Breid was born to Harry and Hulda (Krause) Brotze in New Braunfels, Texas on May 7, 1923. On October 31, 1942 she was united in marriage with William “Bill” Breid in San Antonio, Texas; moving to and then raising their family in Wadena, MN. Dorothy worked as a volunteer homecare aide to the elderly and the Empty Stocking Fund in Wadena, sewing, collecting, and wrapping gifts for needy families for over 30 years. She worked at Wadena Floral greenhouses and as a proof reader at the Wadena Pioneer Journal for 17 years. Dorothy was a loving mother and housewife who enjoyed crafts, created many treasures, also gardening especially flowers. She had a loving passion for dolls and accumulated a vast, varied collection with many of their outfits handmade. She gave special care in doing doll restorations. In earlier years, Dorothy was an active member in the First Congregational U.C.C. serving as a Sunday School Teacher/ Superintendent, VBS teacher, Women's Fellowship and other committees.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Bill on October 15, 2005; her parents; her youngest sister, Irene H. Wetta and many sisters-in–law/ brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her children: Nora Lee (Dennis) Walters of Mentor, Don (Ruth Egerer) Breid of New Richmond, Wisconsin, and Lynnell Breid of Wadena; two grandchildren, Leanne Pelant (Scot) Taft, and Larry J. Pelant; great grandson, Kyle M. Pelant-Bosacker; brothers, Harry W. (Carmin) Brotze, Jr. of Seguin, Texas, and Robert Brotze of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Marguerite Turner-Wilson of New Braunfels, Texas and many sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and pet Noel.

Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Lynk, Allan Lynk, Steve Lynk, Gerald Breid, and Doug Breid. Interment will be at Wadena Cemetery.
