Doris was born on June 30, 1925 in Almora, MN, to Rose (Herman) and William Grose. She was raised on the family farm until the passing of her father. She and her mother then moved to Parkers Prairie where she graduated from high school in 1943. After graduation Doris moved to the twin cities and found employment at various businesses, one of which was a defense plant that supplied items for the war effort. On April 20, 1946, Doris was united in marriage to Elmer Olson of Wadena at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena. She had been an active member of Immanuel until health issues prevented her from continuing. Their marriage was blessed with two children.

In the later 1950's, Doris started working outside the home and was employed at various local businesses until joining her husband in 1966 when they opened Elmer's Paint and Glass in Wadena. Doris and Elmer enjoyed spending time at their lake home on Big Pine Lake and at their Canadian get-a-way on Lake of the Woods. In 1987, they sought the sun in Arizona. For 20 years, they spent their winter months at their home in Mesa, Arizona. Doris enjoyed her family, friends, flowers, travel and a good life.

Doris is survived by her children Joyce Duncan of Maplewood, Dennis (Jeanne) Olson of Wadena, grandson Kevin Olson (Amber Malwitz), great-grandson Jack and sister Alice Peach of New York Mills. She was preceded in death by her parents Rose and William, brothers George, Elmer, and sisters Edna, and Mildred.

Burial will be next to her husband at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, and will be held at a later date.
