The Mass of Christian Burial for Doris Heltemes was celebrated Feb. 22, 2013, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Donald Wagner as celebrant.
Doris, 92, of Wadena passed away Feb. 17, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Doris Evelyn (Fronk) Heltemes was born Feb. 17, 1921, in Leaf River Township to Bert and Mabel (Manley) Fronk. She graduated from Wadena High School with the Class of 1939.
Doris married Arthur William Heltemes at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena on Nov. 22, 1943. She spent her entire life in and around the Wadena area.
She was a member of Christian Mothers, and enjoyed fishing, macramé, embroidery, cooking and gardening.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; parents, Bert and Mabel; brothers, Lyle, Morris and Bert; and sister, Hazel.
Survivors include her children, Joan Poppe of Wadena, Judy Wiebesick of Fargo, Joyce (Dwayne) Weiher of Bemidji, Wayne Heltemes of Reno, Nev., Carol (Mike) Weiher of Carmel, Ind., Gail (Tom) Moore of Fargo, Betty Kne of Moorhead and Vern (Gigi) Heltemes of Moorhead; as well as 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters.
Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Bill Poppe, Chad Wiebesick, Michael Moore, Adam Kne and Josh Beberg, as well as family friend, Lyle Schmitz.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Wadena.
Arrangements were with Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena.
