Doris LaBonte Lilly Eastman, 85, of Wadena, passed away April 22, 2009, at Fair Oaks Lodge.
She was born Sept. 2, 1923, in Isabel, S.D., to Ernest and Byrda (Smith) Pladsen. She was married in 1946 in St. Paul to Francis LaBonte until his death in August 1973. She later married Donald Lilly in Hubbard in 1977. He passed away in 1986. In 1995, in Little Canada, she married Martin Eastman, who passed away in 2003. She was a homemaker and worked as a nurse's aide at Pine Point Nursing Home in Stillwater, Minn. She enjoyed making rugs, crocheting, and embroidery.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 27 in the Johnson Memorial Home Chapel with the Rev. Neal Malcore officiating. Pallbearers were Larry Helgerson, Duane Braseth, John Heerema, Scott Halverson, Duane Locken and Ed Werner. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery in Stillwater. Survivors include her daughters, Caroline (Duane) Braseth of Detroit Lakes, Bernice (John) Heerema of Asheboro, N.C., Linda (Larry) Helgerson of St. Paul, and Janet (Richard) Hatfield of Linn, Mo.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several stepchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Pogany of Spearfish, S.D., Ruby Lee Locken, Lucille (Eugene) Schnabel, both of Isabel, S.D., Elaine Cundy of Madison, S.D., and Darlene (Robert) Geyer of DeSmet, S.D.
