Donna M. Ward, age 78, of Perham, Minn. died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Sanford Health in Fargo, N.D. A funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Detroit Lakes, Minn. Burial took place in the Perham Village Cemetery.
Donna was born in St. Paul, Minn. on May 8, 1934, to Royale and Eleanor (Stickney) Arvig. She grew up in the Melrose, Minn. area in her preschool years and later moved to Wadena, Minn.
In 1950, Donna's father purchased the Perham Telephone Company, and the family moved to Perham. On June 8, 1954, Donna was united in marriage to Marvin Ward. Marvin and Donna moved to Michigan, where Marvin attended College. After graduating, Marvin got a job working for the Social Security Administration, and the couple continued to live in Michigan. In 1984, they moved back to Minnesota to work in the family business, Arvig Communications, with which Donna became vice president.
Donna loved to read, and was a wonderful homemaker. She worked for Arvig Communications for many years. She loved her church and church family, and will be greatly missed by all.
Preceding Donna in death are her parents; brothers-in-law, Clint Foreman, as well as Eugene Ward and his wife, Saundra.
Surviving Donna is her husband, Marvin Ward; son, Bruce (Holly) Ward; grandchildren, Kirstin and Madeline; brother, Allen (Carmen) Arvig; sister, Janice (Jerry) Theodorson; sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Bill) Schnibbe of Oregon, Cleo Foreman of Lacombe, Alberta, Canada, and Connie (Kevin) Wellman of Tennessee; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Arrangements were with Schoeneberger Funeral Home in Perham.
