Donald Alvois DuMont, 86, passed away March 21, 2010, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.
Donald was born Dec. 4, 1923, in Bluffton Township, to Otto and Catherine (Breher) DuMont. Donald graduated from the New York Mills High School with the class of 1942. He resided and farmed in rural Bluffton until retiring in 1991 and making his home at Kaleva in New York Mills. Through the years, Don enjoyed playing baseball for the Bluffton Braves, playing cards, bowling and hunting. He was a member of the Bluffton Lions, Knights of Columbus, and St. John The Baptist Catholic Church where he enjoyed church activities and visiting with everyone. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral Mass was set for 11 a.m. on Friday, March 26, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton with the Rev. Donald Wagner officiating. Music is provided by the St. John's Choir, accompanied by Linda Imdieke. The pallbearers are Del Nord, Gregory Schwartz, Troy Leeseberg, Richard Bayless, Kenneth Czeh and Vincent Crary. Interment was in St. John The Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Bluffton. Arrangements are with the Karvonen & Son Funeral Home of New York Mills. Survivors include his sister, Alice Shinkle of Memphis, Tenn.; brother, Joseph (Charlene) DuMont of Lansing, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Lillian DuMont of New York Mills and Violet DuMont of St. Cloud; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Catherine; two brothers, Vincent and James; sister, Mary Tuneberg and her husband, Everett; brother-in-law, George Shinkle; nephew, Robert DuMont and great-nephew, Eric Nord.
