A reporter and television anchor for 45 years, Don Shelby will be this year's keynote speaker. Prior to his retirement, Shelby worked for 32 years as anchor, investigative reporter and environmental correspondent for WCCO-TV in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Considered the most honored and decorated local television journalist in the country, Shelby has won multiple honors including three national Emmys, two of which he earned after surviving a stroke. In 2010, Shelby was named Distinguished Minnesotan, an honor he shares with such luminaries as Sigurd Olson and polar explorer Will Steger.

A dedicated reporter, Shelby has shared stories from locations spanning the globe. He has reported from Romania, Egypt, Iraq, Venezuela, Australia and the Arctic Circle - to name a few. He is the author of "The Season Never Ends" with a foreword by Tubby Smith, and is currently writing another book on the failure of American journalism to accurately report the facts about global warming.

You will often find Shelby somewhere in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area or on a mountain sharing nature and its peace with members of his family. His presentation "Living Courageously" shares his experience and advice about how to fearlessly face each stage of life.

Health screenings will be offered from 5-6:45 p.m. and Tri-County Health Care (TCHC) staff will provide free lab testing and screenings for glucose, cholesterol, PSA, thyroid, blood sugar, body fat and blood pressure. Informational booths will be available on a variety of health topics pertinent to men's health. A complimentary light meal will be available at the same time.

The evening program will kick off at 7 p.m. with a panel of Tri-County Health Care medical professionals participating in a Question and Answer session with Men's Night out participants.

At 8 p.m., the evening will conclude with Shelby's presentation, "Living Courageously." He will share his insight and experiences about how to fearlessly face each stage of life. To find out more information on Don Shelby, go to www.donshelbybook.com.
