Don Hoyhtya

He was born to Ernest and Hulda Hoyhtya on May 4, 1946. He was born and raised in Leaf Lakes Township. He attended District 135 School. Following graduation from Henning High School in 1964 he enlisted in the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Forrestal (CV-59) until 1968. After an honorable discharge he worked in Minneapolis as an airport cab driver for 32 years. He enjoyed golfing, but mostly spending time with his family.

A memorial service was held at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home in Roseville, Minn. Inurnment was Friday, June 5, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Survivors include Kittie; a daughter, Michelle (Tony) Colaizy of Cottage Grove; three grandchildren; sisters, Mildred (Melvin) Helmrichs of Deer Creek, Janet Lakso of Verndale, Phyllis (Rod) Haarstad of Alexandria; brothers, Harold of Sun City, AZ, Wes (Barbara) of Hector and Steve (Ruby) of Wadena; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Hulda; brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Nancy; brother-in-law, Marvin Lakso; and great nephew, Scott Hoyhtya.
