Dogs die in Wadena County fire
Three buildings and four to six dogs were lost in a fire in Wadena County Feb. 18.
According to Wadena County Sheriff Mike Carr, Camp Canine had three outbuildings fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters were summoned. Camp Canine is at 23457 130th Street.
One of the three buildings on fire included the whelping shed. The fire is believed to have started in the southwest corner of the main structure near a wood furnace.
While four to six dogs were estimated to be lost, most of the dogs were removed from the shed due to a previous water problem.
The three buildings were a total loss, the sheriff said.
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office, Staples Fire Department and Verndale Fire Department all responded to the scene.
