DL skates by WDC

Tanner Lane ran right through the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines Tuesday night in helping Detroit Lakes tack up a 5-1 Mid-State Conference victory.

The Detroit Lakes scoring ace collected a hat trick and added two assists as the Lakers swept the regular season series with WDC.

Inspired by Lane's solid performance, the Lakers out-shot the Wolverines 53-16. Tyler Muehler kept the Wolverines in the game with some staunch goal-tending that included 17 stops in the first period, 14 in the second and 17 in the third.

Lane put the Lakers on the board at the 4:44 mark of the opening period with assists from David Johnson and Alex Phelps.

Chad Maristuen chalked up the game's second goal at 9:25 with help from Lane and Alex Deconcini. Lane made a power play pay off at 11:22 with assists from Alex Mason and Joe Hanson.

Deconcini and Nate Baker set up Lane for his hat trick goal at 1:14 in the third period.

Logan Meyer pushed a power play shot past Detroit Lakes' Andrew Friesen at 5:59.

Baker capped the game scoring at 15:03 with assists from Lane and Andy Schupp.
