The funeral service for DeWayne Glover will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena, MN. Friends and family may call on Thursday at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Carl Noble of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Perham will be officiating. DeWayne E Glover, 82, resident of Wadena passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday evening, Sept. 22, 2013 at the Perham Living Center in Perham, MN.
DeWayne was born April 6th, 1931 to Lucille Shriver in Spencer, IA. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. On May 1, 1952 he was united in marriage to Beverly Johnson at the First Congregational Church in Wadena, MN. He was employed by Merickel Lumber Mills for a time and then owned and operated Glover Custom Machine Shop in Wadena until retirement in 1993. Prior to retirement, DeWayne enjoyed fishing, camping, and deer hunting in MN and WY. He also became an avid agate picker in MT and MN along the north shore of Lake Superior which led him and his wife, Beverly, into lapidary work and silver and gold-smithing. Upon retirement, DeWayne picked up the guitar and began to jam with friends in MN and TX where they wintered for about 15 years. DeWayne truly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren: Mandy, Jay, Jim, Anthony and Nathan as well as great-grandchildren: Harley and Reggie.
DeWayne was preceded in death by his mother Lucille Shriver Kelling; step-father Ed Kelling; son-in-law Dick Budde; and brother-in-law Robert Johnson.
He is survived by his wife Beverly of Perham; son Steve (Tammy) Glover of Perham; daughters Linda Budde (Pat Malikowski) and Paula Schmitz (Tim Kroll) both of Melrose; five grandchildren & two great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Larry (Dorthea) Johnson and sister-in-law Rose Johnson both of Wadena.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Military honors will be provided by the Elmer Goche Post 3922, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wadena, MN.
Burial will be at the Wadena Cemetery.
