COUNTY OF WADENA SEVENTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT

TO: ALL PERSONS WITH A LEGAL INTEREST IN THE PARCELS OF REAL PROPERTY DESCRIBED IN THE FOLLOWING DELINQUENT TAX LIST

A list of real property in Wadena County on which delinquent property taxes and penalties are due has been filed with the district court administrator of Wadena County. This list is published to inform all persons that the listed property is subject to forfeiture because of delinquent taxes.

The property owner, taxpayer, or other interested person must either pay the tax and penalty plus interest and costs, or file a written objection with the district court administrator. The objection must be filed by March 31, 2008, stating the reasons why the tax or penalty is not due on the property. If no objection is filed, a court judgment will be entered against the property for the unpaid tax, penalty, interest, and costs.

For property under court judgment, the period of redemption begins on May 12, 2008, and ends three to five years later, depending on the type of property and where it is located. The period of redemption means the time within which taxes must be paid to avoid losing property through forfeiture.

To avoid forfeiture, taxes on property located within a township must be paid by the second Monday in May, 2013. Taxes must also be paid by the second Monday in May, 2013, if the property is one of the following types in a city; (1) residential homestead, (2) farm homestead, (3) private cabins, (4) resorts occupied by the owner, and (5) resorts in operation for not more than 250 days a year. Payment of tax by the second Monday in May, 2011, is necessary to avoid forfeiture of any property in a city which is not described in the preceding sentence.

Interest and costs are now due in addition to the tax and penalty shown on this notice.

Payment received after February 29, 2008 are not reflected on the list, for the first publication which is on March 12, 2008 and payments received after March 10, 2008 are not reflected on the second publication which is on March 19, 2008, in the Wadena Pioneer Journal legal newspaper of Wadena County.

Chapter 342, Art. 15, Sec. 7, Laws of 1983 as amended, provides that a service fee of $25.00 shall be assessed against each parcel on the delinquent tax list and that unpaid fees shall constitute a lien against the property in the manner provided in Section 272.31 for unpaid taxes.
