The funeral service for Dawn Simpson of Hewitt will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Hewitt, with Pastor Jill Pawlowski and Ken Uhren presiding. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.at the Domian-Anderson Chapel in Bertha, and at the church on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Dawn passed away at the age of 86, on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Lakewood Care Center in Staples, Minn.

Dawn (Wells) Simpson was born June 19, 1926 in Weld, Maine to Beatrice (Conant) and Linn Wells. She spent her early years in Massachusetts, moving to Maine when she was five. Her family lived in Brunswick, Maine until 1943, when her father joined the Navy and the family moved to various states. She graduated from high school in 1944 and from college in 1948.

Dawn Wells and Darrell Simpson were married on November 7, 1952 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Her life was full as she was busy with raising a family, along with working as a secretary, farmer, business owner, and DHIA tester. Her free-time was filled with knitting, reading, gardening, embroidery and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Lioness Club and Historical Society, all in Hewitt.

Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darrell Sr. in April 2004, an infant daughter, son Darrel, Jr. and sister Bernadine. She is survived by sons Wes (Linda), Steven, David (Christianne) and daughters Karen (Duane) Ziemkowski and Kathy (Jim) Walker, 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Hewitt United Methodist Church choir members.

Serving as pallbearers will be Hewitt Lion and Lioness club members.

Burial will be held at a later date at the Hewitt Cemetery in Hewitt, MN.
