Darold Kane

The funeral service for Darold Kane of Perham, and formerly of Bluffton, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the Schuller-Johnson Chapel in Wadena. Friends may call at the Schuller-Johnson Chapel on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Darold Clifton Kane age 97, passed away at the Perham Health Center on December 11, 2013.

Darold was born in Wadena Township on November 2, 1916, to William and Bertha (Goddard) Kane. He attended country school through the eighth grade at district 15 east of Wadena. Darold and Laura Egleston were united in marriage on December 23, 1939, at the First Congregational Church parsonage in Wadena, with Rev. Wendell Wheeler officiating.

Darold farmed all of his life. He started farming with his father east of Wadena until 1946, at which time, he, Laura and their two sons moved to a farm near Bluffton. He milked cows and farmed his cropland until age seventy-five, and continued to live at the farm until he moved to Perham Living in 2009.

Survivors include his sons, Gary (Barbara) of Wadena and John (Joyce) of New York Mills; grandchildren, Michael (Bernice) Kane of Deer River, Janice (Jerome) Jennen, of Fergus Falls, Russell (Denise) Kane, of New York Mills, and Robert Kane, of Osage; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Bertha Kane; his wife Laura; brother, Roland Kane; and sisters, Ethel Pickar, Beryl Link, Dorothy Oas.

Honorary Pallbearers will be great-granddaughters Tasha Waage, Kristin Kane, Madison Kane Laura Jennen and Kaitlyn Kane, and great-great-grandson Gavin Waage.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren Michael Kane, Janice Jennen, Russell Kane, Robert Kane and great-grandsons Tyler Kane, Travis Kane, Adrion Jennen and Jacob Jennen.

Burial will be in Wadena cemetery.
