Daffodil Days underway in Wadena
Wadena County chairperson of the American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days, Sharon Boline, has announced that daffodil pre-sales began Jan. 30 and will continue until Feb. 10. The daffodils will arrive from Washington state on March 12 and will be delivered by volunteers that week.
Bouquets of 10 daffodils will be available for a $10 donation. The Gift of Hope, a daffodil bouquet in a vase to be delivered anonymously to a cancer patient, is available for a $25 donation. For a $25 donation you may also receive a Boyd's Bear and a bouquet of 10 daffodils.
The American Cancer Society's official symbol of hope is the daffodil. The society is a nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives from cancer, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.
Linda Smith organizes the sales in Sebeka and Michelle Neels does so in Menahga. In Verndale, you may order daffodils at the State Bank and they will also be available at the Verndale Methodist Church. There will be many more volunteers canvassing the county selling daffodils, should you be missed; please contact Boline at (218) 631-2148.
