Crystal Anderson, 92, of Battle Lake, died on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center in Battle Lake.

Crystal Ingeborg Gunderson was born Feb. 5, 1917, in Folden Township, Otter Tail County. She was the daughter of Olaf and Agnes (Stene) Gunderson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Folden Lutheran Church, rural Vining. She grew up in Folden and attended school at District 265. In her early years, she worked as housekeeper and nanny in the Vining and Henning areas and later in Duluth. She was married Jan. 20, 1940, to LeRoy Anderson at Folden Lutheran Church. They farmed in Nidaros Township until 1968 when they moved to Battle Lake. Crystal was a member of the Nidaros Lutheran Church, Nidaros WELCA, Sons of Norway, and the Battle Lake Senior Citizens Center. She loved to bake and entertain for family and friends. She lived old time music and was a self-taught pianist. Crystal was a devoted mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend. She will be missed by all.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Nidaros Lutheran Church, Clitherall with the Rev. Richard Kennedy officiating. Music is provided by Diane Bjerketvedt, Organist and Ken Gunderson, vocalist. Pallbearers were Brent Olson, Jim Dahlstrom, Barry Brockopp, Steve Gunderson, Riley Miller and Alan Selvaag. All of Crystal's grandchildren are considered to be honorary pallbearers. Interment is in the church cemetery. The Belmont Funeral Home in Henning (www.belmontfuneral.com) was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her four children, Marjorie Brockopp, Parkers Prairie, Sharon Transgrud, Fergus Falls, Larry (Barb) Anderson, Alexandria, and Darlene (Bert) Olson, Battle Lake; sister, Alice Haile, Henning; sisters-in-law, Ruth Gunderson, Vining, and Deloris (Don) Selvaag, Vining; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her special friends: Elmer and LuElla Trosdahl, Battle Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; daughter, Beverly; her parents; grandson, Derek; and a brother, Truman.
