Crop Production Services enters joint venture with LAC
Effective Jan. 1, Lakes Area Cooperative (LAC) and Crop Production Services Incorporated (CPS) have agreed on a joint venture between the two companies.
This collaboration will include the Agronomy Department of Lakes Area Coop with locations in Perham and Battle Lake, and Crop Production Services locations in Perham and Wadena.
According to a news release, both companies are extremely excited with the new Limited Liability Company, called Professional Agronomy Services LLC. The goal is to bring together the strengths of both companies' employees, assets, experiences and gain some efficiencies/synergies. Both LAC and CPS expect to be in a position to provide enhanced products and services to their customers resulting from this working relationship. Current operations at all four locations will continue through spring 2011 and construction of a 10,000 ton fertilizer distribution facility will start in Perham at the LAC fertilizer site June 2011 with anticipated operation of this new facility beginning in spring 2012.
Lakes Area Coop is a cooperative that has been established since 1911 and located in the lakes region of north central Minnesota. LAC has expanded from its original roots as a dairy/creamery to offering several different products and services to their customers.
Crop Production Services Inc. has agronomy retail and wholesale through-out the US/Canada with divisional offices in Clarks Grove, Minn., corporate office in Loveland, Colo., and is a subsidiary of Agrium Inc. in Calgary, Canada.
