Critter Cookin' Contest coming up March 23
It's time to prepare to enter the 7th annual Critter Cookin' Contest. If you killed it and you can cook it, bring it.
A wide variety of dishes have been enjoyed at the contest and Wild Game Feed in past years. Entrees have included turtle, venison, squirrel, salmon and many other types of wild game. Varied and delicious, attendees will be able to sample each entree as they enjoy a meal at the contest. Contestants will have the opportunity to win a shotgun should they be selected the best of the competition. New to the event this year, all contestants will also be entered into a drawing for two more great prizes. Plus, there will be numerous door prizes for those attending.
The Game Feed will be held at the Wadena Evangelical Church, Friday, March 23 with registration beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sampling and meal will start at 6 p.m.
Following the meal, Dr. Tom Rakow will entertain and inform the audience with tales of his outdoor experiences. A true outdoors man, Rakow is in demand as a keynote speaker for wild game feeds and outdoor related banquets around the country. Executive president of the Christian Deer Hunter's Association, author and public speaker, his message utilizes loads of humor, along with personal hunting and fishing stories. Tom and his wife, Beth, and their four daughters reside in Silver Lake, Minn., where he has served as a full-time pastor of Grace Bible Church since 1989.
The Wadena Evangelical Church is at 419 2nd St. NE. For more information on the contest call Ron Malone at (218) 639-2571 or the church at (218) 631-1928.
