County auditor, commissioner race highlights of primary Tuesday
Primary elections will take place this Tuesday, Aug. 10 to vote for state and local offices. All polls close at 8 p.m.
Along with the state partisan ballot, the primary election will feature county candidates and a Menahga school district referendum.
Dave Whitaker, David Hillukka and Dave Schermerhorn are running for the office of County Commissioner, District 5.
Betty A. White, Brian James Hagen and Char West are running for the office of County Auditor-Treasurer.
Voters may also say "yes" or "no" to approval of a bond for a Menahga schools building project which would increase property taxes. Details of the building project are listed on ballot itself.
City offices and school board offices are in the process of filing and will be elected during November's general election.
The polling place for city of Wadena voters will be the Memorial Auditorium. Wadena Township and Leaf River Township will vote in the Courthouse Auditorium. Both polling places will open at 7 a.m.
The polling place for city of Verndale voters will be the Lions Community Center opening at 7 a.m.
City of Aldrich voters will use the Alrich Community Center starting at 7 a.m. Aldrich Township will vote at 18118 150th St. off County Road 4 starting 10 a.m. Wing River Township will vote at 18006 181st Ave. near County Road 23 starting at 10 a.m.
City of Staples voters will go to the Staples Community Center starting at 7 a.m. Bullard Township will vote at 25500 170th St. by County Highway 29/Wilderness Drive, which opens at 10 a.m. The polling place for Thomastown Township will be at 23598 County Road 2, opening at 7 a.m.
City of Sebeka and the townships of North Germany, Red Eye and Rockwood will vote at the Sebeka Fire Hall. City voting will open at 7 a.m. while the township voting will open at 10 a.m. Meadow Township voters will go to 29468 198th Ave near State Highway 227.
City of Menahga voters will go to the city clerk/garage/fire department building on 115 2nd St. NE. Blueberry Township will use the Blueberry Township Hall, 37493 US Highway 71. Shell River Township will use 17886 East Hall Road off County Road 23. The city and both townships will open at 7 a.m.
City of Nimrod and the townships of Huntersville, Lyons and Orton will all go to the Nimrod Community Hall on 23276 State Highway 227. The city will open at 7 a.m.; townships will start voting at 10 a.m.
