Council gets update on Trees for Wadena
At the Wadena City Council meeting, Anne Oldakowski gave updates on grant applications for the Wadena Area Replant Project.
Oldakowski explained the project, also known as Trees for Wadena. She said that there would be a variety of species planted, and the trees would be at least 5 feet tall.
She said they were applying for grants, and that they had already applied for two grants. One was for Conservation Corps, a student-run group to plant trees and do trail work. They were also applying for student interns to get the right trees at the right places.
Another grant with a deadline of Nov. 19 was a grant to purchase trees for public land.
"Sounds like a great plan," acting mayor Jeanette Baymler said.
