Council creates 'disaster' budget line item
Wadena city council members discussed the future of rebuilding Wadena after the tornado at the end of the council's budget meeting.
Aside from the regular departments, the city had created a "disaster" category, a new set of expenses just for the storm.
The budget sheet showed that $100,000 had gone to the old airport in the 2010 fiscal year.
Don Niles said the city should get proposals for an architect for the new community center.
Niles also said that the Minnesota Design Team could not do their main visit until October, but a small team would be in Wadena in the next couple of weeks.
The council discussed an accelerated schedule from the hockey association and the need to build a new school. After the two-year lease with M State, the new high school's first year would be 2012-13.
