The funeral service for Cora Meinhardt, of Wadena, Minn. were held at on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Wadena. Cora passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 26 in Minneapolis, Minn. surrounded by her loving husband, family and friends. She did not recover from injuries suffered in a car accident 8 days prior in Hutchinson, Minn.

Cora Ione Olson was born near Menahga, Minn., the youngest of 11 children, to Alben and Sybil (Johnson) Olson on December 7, 1933. She became an elementary school teacher and taught for a year in a one-room school near Menahga. She also taught school near Fargo, N.D. and in Moorhead, Minn. before her marriage.

On July 6, 1956 she married Raymond Meinhardt from Gwinner, N.D. They lived and raised their three children in North Dakota, Texas, Iowa and Minnesota. Cora continued teaching for many years in Minnesota. She traveled with her husband to visit friends in several countries in her later years including Mexico, Greece, Haiti, Lebanon and Israel. Cora was a tireless and fearless champion for justice, and defender of those in need. Her heart and home were open to any and all who came to her door. Many strangers became her friend because of this. Cora was deeply loved and adored by many.

Cora is preceded in death by her parents; a twin brother and sister less than a week old; brothers Arnold 4 years old, Dale (Doris) Olson, John (Edith) Olson; and sisters Shirley (Arthur) Torkkola and Arlene (Walter) Hedin.

Cora is survived by her husband Raymond; children Craig Meinhardt, Rachel (Pedro) Becquer, Kristine (Steven) Lockhart; grandchildren Pedro Jr., Ana, Jessica (Nathan) Zaic, Jeremy, Jaclyn; great grandchildren James and Adaline; brother Ansel (Ruth) Olson; and sisters Oneita (Russell) Quick and Ethel (Richard) Benson.

Interment will be at Wadena Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Schuller Family Funeral Homes in Wadena. (
