Clayton "Rex" Heston

The Mass of Christian Burial for Clayton “Rex” Heston will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Donald Wagner as celebrant. Friends may call on Monday at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena from 5 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 5 and Parish Prayers at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. With family at his side, Rex died at the age of 86 on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.

Clayton Rex Heston was born March 1, 1927, the 10th and youngest child to Chelsea Raymond and Le.la (Coulter) Heston in Vivian, S.D. He attended and graduated from the Vivian Public High School and continued his education achieving a business degree in Sioux Falls. Rex and Agnes Kramer were married on November 20, 1971 in Selby, S.D. Over the years he worked in banking in Kennebec, S.D, Hamburg, Miltona, Verndale, Dent and Wadena, Minn. He will also be remembered as an employee at Fix’s Grocery in Wadena. Rex was a member of the Dent and Wadena Lions Clubs, Knights of Columbus, and volunteered with the Boy Scouts, Wadena Area Food Shelf, and United Way. He found time to enjoy gardening and crafts, and especially enjoyed time spent with his grandkids.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents Chelsea and Lela; brother Delbert; sisters Vera Faber, Veva Copeland, Neva Matheson, Polly Heston, Louise Johnson, Ethel Riggs, Phyllis Portillo and Myrtle Heston.

Rex is survived by his wife Agnes of Wadena; son Kenneth (Andrea) of McKinney, Texas; daughter Cathy (Gary) Plemel of Sartell; granddaughters Alexis, Mackenzie, and Mariah Plemel; and one grandson “on-the-way” Dean Heston; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Plemel, Andrea Heston, and Rex’s grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are Doug Ostlund, Mac Nelson, Les Anderson, Darrell Haman, Orval Matheson and Clint Brandt . Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Wadena.
