City employee controversy in Hewitt
Wadena Minnesota 314 S. Jefferson 56482

I just can't believe how Hewitt is still making it. We have been in the paper now for months and not in a good way.

First, how can you justify laying off a worker, Brisson, for a so-called cooling off period, knowing good and well Don Fitzgerald was in the wrong. He had no right e-mailing Brisson, threating him, then laying him off.

Fitzgerald should have been let go -- he is a time bomb ticking. I think he should step down.

And I think if he keeps going the way he is the mayor will be made a fool of too. Telling the city employees not to listen to the mayor is wrong, he has the office employees walking on egg shells. This is not the way it should be. A happy work place is a good work place. And I feel that Don should step down. Anyone agreeing with me should call the mayor and voice their opinion. And if you want to see the e-mails, just stop by my place and I will give you a copy.

Now second, why wouldn't you want the office fingerprinted if someone is getting in the office and getting in the computer and safe -- that should be done! If someone was breaking in you should automatically have it done unless you know who is doing it, or you have something to hide.

I think Brisson should have received a raise. He is a good employee, a very good worker, he knows what he is doing, and if Don keeps up we will lose the best city employee we have had in a long time. If you ever need help he is there, no ifs, ands or buts.

You see the signs: "Hewitt on the Move." Right? Backwards?
